TREND: SNAKE BOOTS
TREND: SNAKE BOOTS
I remember first seeing the snake boot trend on Kim, who we all know is a fashion influencer for our generation on an episode of KUWTK. That was a few seasons ago. I remember how new, bizarre, and unfamiliar the trend was to me. California is always so ahead with fashion trends.
I am in currently in the Midwest. The Midwest slowly gets the fashion trends after they have been introduced in California. But, I must say this is VERY routine. Below is how it always seems to go.
KUWTK FASHION CYCLE:
I’ll see an episode of KUWTK
I’ll see Kim in a fashion trend I have never seen before
The trend seems so bizarre when I first see it on Kim
The trend makes its way through stores and online sites as a brand new trend, most likely in the “New Arrivals” section
I’ll see the trend styled more and more on many other fashion influencers online and on displays in stores
The new trend is no longer bizarre
That new trend becomes a major trend, and everyone wants it
I’ll eventually end up liking the trend too
I’ll finally buy the trend myself
I think this is the case for most normal people like myself. At first, we see fashion trends on tv on fashion influencers like the Kardashians very early on and we don’t “get it” at first because it seems so bizarre. We don’t think it’s very “cute” or attractive at first. As the trend slowly becomes more visible in stores, on displays, and on online sites we then start to adapt to it and end up liking it.
In the photo above Kim had the snake boot trend on, on February 26, 2018. The snake boot trend arrived in stores in the Midwest in December 2019. I remember because I bought my snake boots in December 2019, during a major sale that was right before Christmas 2019.
Kim had the trend on 1 year and 10 months before it arrived in the Midwest.
This is also the case for the 2019 Neon trend. I remember seeing Kim (and I think Khloe) in episodes of KUWTK with Neon outfits on. The Neon trend was NO WHERE NEAR “out” or “familiar” in the Midwest at the time the episodes aired on television. I also remember thinking to myself, “Why do the Kardashians keep wearing these highlighter colors?”.
(LOL)
Kim had the Neon trend on in the photo above on October 1, 2018. The Neon trend was not in stores in the Midwest until March 2019. I had just started working for Windsor at the time, and I remember the neon clothing had just arrived for the store.
Kim had the neon trend on 6 months before it arrived in stores in the Midwest.
Of course, this is also the case with the Biker Short trend. Kim wore the Biker Shorts trend on January 3, 2018. The Biker Shorts trend arrived in stores in the Midwest around May-July 2019. I had just started working for Forever 21 at the time, after working for Windsor. Boxes of biker shorts were coming in the store for the first time. This is one trend that I did NOT like from first seeing it on Kim on the show, until it arrived in stores. To this day I still do NOT like or own the biker short trend, but many other fashionistas loved it. Women and teenage girls were constantly asking me about them when they walked into the Forever 21 store that I worked at.
“Do you have any biker shorts? Where are your biker shorts? Do you have any biker shorts like the ones Kim K wears?”
Kim had the trend on about 1 yr and 4 months before it arrived in stores in the Midwest.
Isn’t it so crazy to think about how different areas across the country and world physically get fashion trends at different times?
It is such a process for the new fashion trends to make their way to people all over the world.
Now, back to snake boots. The snake boot trend is huge for 2020, and I LOVE it. Here are photos of my snake boots and how I styled them!
When I was originally writing this blog post I was only planning on talking about the snake boot trend, and I went into another discussion! I hope you enjoyed this longer blog post!
